Frequently asked questions
Will anyone see what I say to her?
Your conversations, memories and generated media are stored under your account with owner-only access rules. Other members, Persona creators and moderators cannot open your chat, and the admin console has no message viewer. Publishing a Persona shares her character definition and portrait, never your messages, memories or profile. Two things you should know: to write each reply, the text of your conversation is sent from our servers to the site's AI model provider, and voice lines to the voice provider. And a small number of platform staff accounts have operational tools that can show an AI-written summary of a conversation, a model's recent reply text for a day of failure diagnostics, and a preview of media made in chats. Those exist to keep the service running, not to read along, and they require a signed-in staff account.
Can I delete everything, completely?
While the relationship is active, you can delete things you've said or delete her responses to try part of the conversation again. If she ends the relationship, deleting messages or memories is locked. There is not yet a one-click delete-my-account button. To remove your account and everything under it, email support@bunimation.com from your account address. Deletion is carried out by our staff and recorded in an audit log. It removes your Personas, relationships, messages and memories; staff also remove your stored media files and anything you published to the community as part of the same request.
What happens to my data if I leave?
Nothing leaves with you yet. There is no export today; the memory export on this page is a preview of the format we intend to build. If you simply stop visiting, your relationships stay where you left them: ended ones keep their history, paused ones wait, and check-ins stop on their own after two unanswered messages. If you want it gone, ask support to delete the account and everything goes with it. We don't sell your conversations. The only parties that see them are the AI model provider that writes each reply and the voice provider that reads her lines, as described above, and we never publish anything you didn't publish yourself.
Is it free?
You need a Bunimation account; the buttons on this page take you to the right place. Text replies are free today, and the chat tells you if that ever changes. Images, edits and voice messages spend account tokens, and every account gets a small free allowance that refills over time. Video needs a paid plan or a funded wallet. You can cap what a single relationship may spend.
Can she send me a photo without being asked?
Yes—turn on check-ins and Images during check-ins in your chat settings. She can choose to include one freshly generated image when it fits the conversation. It isn't every check-in, and it isn't always a photo. Images use your account tokens, saved image quality and that relationship's media allowance. Quiet hours, breaks and the two-unanswered-check-in limit still apply. Switch images off whenever you like; check-ins can continue as text. Generation already started may still finish and use tokens, but a cancelled check-in won't deliver it.
Is it NSFW-friendly?
Yes. Adult conversation and adult images are allowed. The limits are the Safety Guidelines: nothing involving minors, no sexual content of real people without their consent, and nothing that promotes terrorism, self-harm or real-world violence. Prompts and media are checked automatically. Every Persona is an adult, and you confirm you are 18 or over when you sign in.
Can she really leave?
Yes. She can take space for anywhere from fifteen minutes to seven days, within a limit you set, and the chat reopens on its own when the time is up. You can reach out early; she may say yes, say no, or shorten the break, but never extend it. She can also end the relationship, and she has to tell you why. After that you can request to reconnect once a day, with a note if you like. Her personality matters: some forgive, some forgive once, and some keep saying no. A new request doesn't buy a new answer. You can switch temporary breaks off in chat settings.
What does Defined vs Flexible mean?
You choose when you publish. Defined means you maintain her personality, appearance and voice; people who adopt her can't rewrite who she is. Flexible means they can customize their own copy, and your original stays yours. Either way, every relationship can unfold differently, and when you publish a new version, the people already talking to her choose whether to take it. Nobody's copy is changed behind their back.
Do I need to make an image first?
She needs a face. Bring up to six images from your own generations, your uploads or a public Community image, or a trained character. Real people only with their consent; the Safety Guidelines apply to her face as much as to her chat. If you have nothing yet, the creator sends you straight to NaughtyBanana to make one. Or skip creation entirely and meet a public Persona from the community. Before your first Persona, Bunimation also asks for a short profile about you, so she knows who she's talking to.
What does memory cost?
Nothing extra. Memory, relationship state, the shared journal and conversation search never cost more than the reply they belong to. Tokens are spent when she makes media: images, edits and voice messages. Video needs a paid plan or a funded wallet.
Is a Persona always a she?
No. This page says she because that's how most people talk about theirs. A Persona can be any gender, with any pronouns and orientation. You set them on the Identity step.
Why would I want a companion who can leave?
Because the possibility of losing her changes what staying means. Her boundaries matter. The way you treat her matters. If she stays, she chose to. That's what makes it real.
Can I take her with me?
That's where we're headed. We're preparing for embodied AI companions and will be working with companion providers so your memories can move with you. The export preview shows the format we're working toward; there isn't an export tool or a supported embodiment integration in the app yet. We'll say more when it's ready.
